Day 22 (an extra day) - Fasting and the Suffering World

“Is not this the kind of fasting I have chosen…Is it not to share your food with the hungry and to provide the poor wanderer with shelter— when you see the naked, to clothe them, and not to turn away from your own flesh and blood?”
Isaiah 58:6-7
Fasting is turning your hunger pain into requests, prayer and petitions for the suffering around you. Today focus your prayers on those suffering close to you and those suffering throughout the world.
“As soon as a Christian recognizes that he has failed in his service...that all his joy in God has vanished and that his capacity for prayer has quite gone, it is high time for him to launch an assault upon the flesh and prepare for better service by fasting and prayer.” – Dietrich Bonhoeffer
Pray
Turn your prayers to the suffering within our world. Ask God to make way for food, clothing, shelter and medical supplies to reach those in critical need. Pray for God's strength, wisdom, compassion and spiritual insight for those who are serving the poor and needy.
